Your Spiti Valley expedition begins from Chandigarh as you drive through the scenic Shivalik Hills and lush pine forests towards Narkanda. En route, enjoy the cool breeze and picturesque views of apple orchards and Himalayan villages. On arrival, check into your hotel and relax. In the evening, you may visit the Hatu Peak for mesmerizing sunset views and panoramic landscapes.
After breakfast, continue your journey to Kalpa via Rampur and Reckong Peo. The drive offers a mix of smooth tarmacs and thrilling mountain roads alongside the Sutlej River. Explore the ancient Tabo Monastery in the morning, then proceed to Dhankar Monastery, dramatically perched on a cliff. From here, make a detour into the lush green Pin Valley—famous for its wildlife and vibrant Buddhist culture. Reach Kaza by evening and settle in for the night amidst the cold desert air of Spiti.
Start the day by visiting Key Monastery, the largest monastery in Spiti. Then head to Kibber village, once the highest motorable village in the world. Continue to Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office, and nearby Langza, known for its fossils and the iconic Buddha statue overlooking the valley. Return to Kaza for an overnight stay.
Post breakfast, bid goodbye to Kaza and drive towards Chandratal—the Moon Lake—via Kunzum Pass. This high-altitude lake is a breathtaking sight with its crystal-clear waters reflecting the blue skies and surrounding peaks. Set up camp near the lake and enjoy the night under a blanket of stars.
Wake up to a magical sunrise at Chandratal before heading towards Manali via the rugged and thrilling roads of Batal, Chhatru, and Gramphu. Cross the Atal Tunnel and descend into the lush green Kullu Valley. Check in to your hotel in Manali and enjoy a relaxing evening after days of high-altitude adventure.
Spend this day at leisure exploring Manali’s local sights such as the Hadimba Temple, Manu Temple, Old Manali cafes, and Mall Road. You can also opt for paragliding or river rafting in the nearby Solang Valley. It’s the perfect day to unwind and relive memories from your Spiti journey.
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Chandigarh. Reflect on the unforgettable landscapes, cultural richness, and serene monasteries that defined your Spiti road trip. Reach Chandigarh by evening, marking the end of your incredible Himalayan adventure.
